Mothers who know and a bit of beauty

I hope everyone had a wonderful mothers day!
Yesterday in our meetings, a talk given recently by the General Relief Society President was used as a reference. I love this talk. Here is my favorite part.

"Mothers who know do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord’s kingdom for the next 50 years. That is influence; that is power."

Today I will be running out to pick up my copy of Stephenie Meyer's newest book The Host. If she can make me love vampires, I'm sure her aliens won't disappoint! As it says on her web site, "Science fiction for people who don't like science fiction."

Liquid Hot Magma

On Saturday we loaded up the kiddos and drove through the desert for a fun family outing to Craters of the Moon. It is the site of a volcanic eruption that happened just 2,000 years ago. It is the most recent of it's kind in the country. We had a lot of fun looking at the rock and lava flow! Karlie even brought home her own "special rock".

Here are some fun facts:

*In 1969 Apollo 14 astronauts visited Craters of the Moon. They explored the lava landscape in order to learn the basics of volcanic geology in preparation for future trips to the moon.

*Craters of the Moon is a HUGE national park! It is over 1,100 square miles (over 750,000 acres) which is roughly the size of Rhode Island. The young lava flows that make up the bulk of the Monument and Preserve can clearly be seen from space.

While we were there I couldn't help quoting Dr. Evil. This is one of my favorite quotes of his! I just love the way he says it! :) (click on the symbol to the right to hear it)

Seven Years

Today we are celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary. I can't believe it has been seven years. With all that has happened and changed throughout the years, one thing has stayed the same. We are still perfect for each other!

Snow Snow go away!!

Happy May Day!



We get to celebrate the first day of May by brushing the snow off of the car. We should be frolicking through a field of daisies, not dealing with snow! Grrrr!

True Love

Oh how I LOVE my cricut! We had great fun together last night. There is not much in this world that I love more! Well, okay, that is a bit of an exaggeration. But oh my goodness, how I LOVE my cricut!!

Jungle Fever

Yesterday we decided to fight the nasty wind and go on a walk/bike ride in "The Jungle." Near our house is a small lake with a walking path around it. It is such a fun place to go for a walk. Half of the path is next to the river and covered with bushes and tree's. Hence the name, "The Jungle." Karlie decided to call it that last year. When we would go last year it was hard for Karlie to walk the whole mile around. But this year, she couldn't wait to take her new bike. She had so much fun, she wanted to go around twice! It was good to get out, even though it's not as warm as we would like it to be!
